Platform Privacy Policy
Effective June 19, 2026
This policy covers the MangaLoft publishing platform — creating an artist account and publishing manga to mangaloft.org — operated by Electricwoods LLC (“we”, “us”). It is separate from the MangaLoft app privacy policy, which still applies to the drawing app and is unchanged: the app is local-first and collects nothing. The platform hosts accounts and public content, so it necessarily handles some data, described here.
What we collect
- Account information — your Sign in with Apple identifier, your chosen handle, and any display name, bio, and avatar you set. Apple provides us a stable identifier; we do not receive your Apple Account password.
- A contact email you provide at onboarding, used for moderation, account, and legal contact.
- Published content — the manga pages, series, and episode metadata you publish, which become publicly readable on mangaloft.org.
- IP address for moderation and abuse prevention — when you publish, and when a report is filed, we record the originating IP address to enforce rate limits and to investigate abuse or illegal content.
- Content reports — when someone uses the Report button, we record the reported page, the reason given, and the reporter’s IP address (and account, if they are signed in).
- Operational logs — our hosting and content-delivery providers keep standard technical request logs for security and reliability.
Why we use it (purposes of use)
- To operate your account and publish and serve your work.
- To moderate the platform and comply with the law — including detecting, preserving, and reporting illegal content (such as mandatory child-safety reporting of CSAM to the U.S. National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, NCMEC) and responding to copyright/DMCA notices.
- To prevent and investigate abuse, including rate limiting and ban enforcement.
- To contact you about your account, moderation actions, or legal matters.
Published content is public
Content you publish, and the profile information shown alongside it (handle, display name, bio, avatar), are publicly visible worldwide. They can be linked, indexed by search engines, and cached by third parties. Unpublishing stops us from serving content, but cannot retract copies others may already hold.
How we share data
We do not sell personal data, and we do not provide it to third parties for their own marketing. We disclose data only:
- to service providers that operate the platform on our behalf — principally Amazon Web Services (hosting, storage, and content delivery, in the United States) and Apple (Sign in with Apple);
- as required by law or to comply with valid legal process, and to make mandatory illegal-content reports (e.g. to NCMEC and appropriate authorities); and
- to copyright complainants to the limited extent needed to process a DMCA notice or counter-notice (for example, forwarding a counter-notice).
Where data is processed (cross-border transfer)
The platform runs on Amazon Web Services in the United States, and published content is delivered globally through a content-delivery network. Your personal data may be processed or stored in the United States and other countries by our service providers (such as Amazon Web Services and Apple), acting on our behalf under data-processing arrangements that require appropriate safeguards consistent with Japan’s Act on the Protection of Personal Information (APPI).
Retention
- Account and published content — kept while your account is active. When you request deletion, content is taken offline promptly and your account and data are removed after a short wind-down period (about 30 days). Removed or taken-down content may have its URLs retired or redirected.
- Moderation IP logs and report records — retained for a limited period for abuse investigation, then deleted.
- Content quarantined for legal or child-safety reasons — preserved for the legally required period before review and purge.
- We may retain limited records longer where the law requires it.
Your rights and choices
From the MangaLoft app you can update your profile, unpublish your content, and request account deletion. You may also ask us to disclose, correct, or delete the personal data we hold about you, subject to legal limits, by emailing the address below. We will respond as required by applicable law, including Japan’s Act on the Protection of Personal Information (APPI).
Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the data we hold. No internet service can be guaranteed perfectly secure, but we work to limit what we collect and to protect what we keep.
Children
The platform is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will address it.
Changes
If we update this policy, we will post the revised version here with a new effective date.
