Effective October 11, 2026
MangaLoft is made by Electricwoods LLC (“we”). MangaLoft is local-first: your artwork and documents are yours, and we are built to need as little of your information as possible. This policy explains what that means in practice.
The manga documents you create are stored locally on your device. If you enable iCloud, copies are stored in your own private iCloud container, which is operated by Apple under your Apple Account. We do not host, receive, or have access to your documents.
The MangaLoft app contains no third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking software, and we operate no servers that receive your work. We do not build advertising or behavioural profiles of you and we do not sell or share personal data. We receive only the limited information described below — essentially, what you choose to send us, plus standard technical logs from this website.
Exporting needs MangaLoft Plus, an optional auto-renewable subscription sold and processed by Apple through the App Store. We never receive your name, card, or payment details. Apple tells the app only whether your subscription is active, so it can enable exporting. If your subscription ends, your documents stay yours: you can still open and view them. Manage or cancel anytime in your Apple Account settings.
If you connect with a collaborator and share a document, the shared copy, its notes and the name you choose to show are stored in iCloud / CloudKit, between the Apple Accounts you connect with — in your iCloud and theirs, operated by Apple. We run no server that stores or sees your shared work, your pages or your notes. To tell you when a shared document changes, the app uses Apple Push Notifications through iCloud; the notification token stays within Apple’s services and is used only for your own collaboration activity, never for advertising. When a collaboration ends with Wrap Up, the work comes home to your original document.
So that collaborators can recognise you, you may choose a display name, a colour and a picture. This is the one piece of information in MangaLoft that passes through a server we operate. When you save it, the app sends those three things, together with the profile’s identifier and a secret that proves the change comes from you, to our service (hosted on Amazon Web Services), which writes the name, colour and picture to a profile record in the public database of Apple’s iCloud / CloudKit. People you connect with read that record directly from Apple; we do not see who looks at your profile, and we keep no list of who you collaborate with.
The profile is identified by a random identifier, not by your Apple Account, email or real name. The app hands it only to people you connect or share documents with, and we offer no way to list or search profiles. Anyone who obtains the identifier can read the profile, including former collaborators after a connection ends and anyone they pass it to, so choose a name and picture you are comfortable showing.
To authorise later changes and to be able to take a profile down, our service keeps a small registry entry: the random identifier, its state, timestamps, and a one-way hash of the secret. The entry is kept while the profile exists, and stays as a marker with no name or picture if a profile is taken down, so the identifier cannot be reused. To limit abuse, our service also keeps temporary rate-limit records that include standard technical request information such as IP address. We can see and remove the name, colour and picture you publish; we never see your artwork.
You can change your name, colour or picture at any time in the app (Collaborate ▸ Collaborators ▸ your own row). Clear My Profile… in the same place removes your published name and picture from the record; your colour stays, and you can set a name and picture again later. Collaborators may still see the name already stored in your card or in documents you share, which is kept in iCloud between you and them, not by us. After clearing, the registry entry described above remains; it contains no name or picture. Clearing cannot take back a copy someone has already saved.
If a collaborator’s profile is abusive, open their row and choose Report Profile…. A report identifies the reported profile and a category; we do not store your identity with it. We keep reports while we review them and as a record of what we did. We review reports and may remove a profile.
The app and your browser may contact mangaloft.org to load a small configuration file and the pages you’re reading. Like any website, our content delivery network may transiently log standard technical request information (such as IP address) for security and reliability. We do not use this information to identify you, and we do not place advertising or tracking cookies on this site.
We operate no user accounts. Apart from the collaboration profile described above, which you can change or clear, there is nothing about you for us to hold. You are in full control: delete your local documents from your device, and delete iCloud copies through iCloud Drive / your Apple Account. If you have emailed us or contacted us, you may ask us to delete that correspondence and any records we directly control, and we will.
MangaLoft is a general-audience creative tool and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
If we update this policy, we will post the revised version here with a new effective date.
